Have you ever been bullied? No, have you ever been the object of ridicule for entertainment?

Have you ever made fun of someone else because it was funny or thought it was, most especially with the help of the Internet? That act would be deemed “cyberbullying”

Cyberbullying is the act of using an internet platform with the help of modern technology to harass, threaten or target a person. People of all ages can experience cyberbullying. It is an often indirect yet powerful way of tarnishing the subject’s self-esteem and sense of self, in turn (possibly) damaging their mental health in most cases cyberbullying is dangerous because it is almost impossible to erase traces of such harassment from the internet. Seeing as these hurtful words, shameful images and videos can be saved onto a device or shared.

According to statistics from “DO SOMETHING.ORG”, about 37% of young people between the ages of 12 and 17 have been bullied online. 30% have had it happen more than once. It was also reported that 23% of students reported that they’ve said or done something mean or cruel to another person online. 27% reported that they’ve experienced the same from someone else.

Cyberbullying has grown over the years to take many forms. Some of which have caused people to even go to the extent of attempting to and taking their lives.

Youth who have been bullied seldom come out to speak about their experiences as they find it embarrassing and unbearable to speak about.

Another reason it is seldom spoken about is that it is either the subject of ridicule is being threatened or the bullies are never found as identities can be faked on social media.

I believe bullying is an unforgivable act as it puts an unnecessary amount of strain both mentally and physically as it becomes a trauma that takes almost forever to overcome.
